Imagine "Uncharted in the Call of Duty fiction", says Michael Condrey.
You might recall that Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer worked on a third-person Call of Duty game set in Vietnam across 2009 to 2010. The game was ultimately shelved amid concerns about such a project's reception in countries outside the United States, and Sledgehammer was shuttled over to help a troubled Infinity Ward complete work on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

And what Sledgehammer thinks of the Titanfall comparisons.
After three Modern Warfare games, five World War 2-set endeavours and two Black Ops titles, Call of Duty's map design isn't so much set in stone as tattooed across the surface of the sun. | Original Gamer Review - Metro Redux

Original Gamer: "In 2010, when game publishers were focusing on capitalizing on the Modern Warfare craze, THQ published Metro 2033 from 4A Games. The gritty dystopian game based in the subways of a nuclear wasteland of Moscow didn't wow the critics, but it laid the groundwork for the sequel, Metro: Last Light, which was one of the best games last year. Deep Silver, who bought the series after THQ filed bankruptcy, decided to get next gen gamers up to speed with the franchise by giving both games a next gen makeover in Metro Redux."

Robert Rath:
It might be an understatement to say I've been critical of the Modern Warfare series. Between articles about how the series miscasts the War on Terror, misrepresents Muslims and, at its worst, amounts to a $60 game of follow-the-leader, I've written more than 10,000 not-especially nice words about Activision's favorite child.

Continue Play's Pete Yankowski looks back at Infinity War's second installment in the Modern Warfare trilogy, and decides whether it's really worthy of its near-legendary status.
"Modern Warfare 2 is still a solid entry in a dependable series, but in hindsight its hard not to think that it was also the point where the series started to feel more like a product than a genuine attempt to move the genre forward."
